Triker Dude

For those of you that read this blog, you'll remember that Hudson got a new tricycle for Christmas this year. Not just any old tricycle, oh no, a shiny new red, low-riding Schwinn complete with black tassled handles and a bell!
It has been months, but finally a few weeks ago Hudson mastered his trike riding skills and went from "Fred Flinstone-ing" it down the sidewalk to pedaling with fury.  He learned how to ride by observing the other kids outside and also the older children at his preschool, and he couldn't be more proud.

Unfortunately, last night he got a little too proud of himself and as he got off his trike and ran towards me to celebrate, he bit the dust and got his first skinned knees as a result. He insisted that Thomas the train band aids were the only things that would make him better, but it just so happend that he had "cried wolf" one too many times and that we had used the last Thomas band aid just days before.
So, I did what any mom would do.  I pulled out the fine point sharpie and drew the best Thomas the train I could on the plain band aids.  He rewarded me with a big kiss and assured me that he was going to be "Otay."

Splish Splash

The last Sunday in April we finally got the chance to make our first trip to the pool. Hudson was so excited, as were we, to get on our swimming suits and catch some rays.  The water was still icy cold, but that didn't stop Hudson. Within a matter of minutes, he was splashing in the water and having a blast!
We spent several hours soaking up the sun, sipping juice boxes and playing catch. It was a great way to spend the afternoon. Little did we realize, it would be our first and last trip to the pool for awhile...later that week Oklahoma temps plummeted and Stillwater experienced near freezing temperatures again!

Arts Fest

The Stillwater Arts Festival is an annual festival held in April. Every year we migrate downtown to Main Street and check out all of the local talent. The weather was perfect and Hudson had an especially fun time looking at all the dogs he saw, looking at the photography and playing in the milk jug igloos.
