Party On

This October we had our first annual family halloween party.  My mom and aunt came up with the idea to have a party because we have three precious little boys in the family now and are always looking for special and fun traditions to start for them.

Growing up, my parents hosted numerous halloween parties for us, most even complete with a "haunted" trail. This year, we decided to take it easy as far as "haunted" trails go  and opted for a hay ride with some friendly ghosts and other fun halloween decor.

When I arrived at my parents the afternoon before the party, I was surprised to learn that I had a costume waiting for me.  I was prepared to dress up Hudson in his shark costume, but didn't think I'd also be getting all dressed up (I'm talking face paint and everything, folks!).  My mom and aunt had other plans; the day before the party they hit-up local garage sales and pieced together enough costumes for almost all of us!  I'll admit I had SO much fun dressing up and Hudson definitely got a few laughs out of seeing mommy as a scarecrow.

The party was definitely a success and I can't wait until next year's.

Fizzling Fireboxes, Shout Yippee, Hudson Dean is Turning Three!

Three years ago on October 21, 2010, we welcomed our precious baby boy into this world.  We had no idea all the joy, laughter and lack of sleep that was ahead of us.  I know I sound like a broken record, but I really cannot believe he is three.

Hudson, you have grown to be a tall, handsome little boy who is smart, witty, funny, creative and very caring...we couldn't be more proud!

To celebrate Hudson's third birthday, we invited about 20 of our dearest friends and family.  Because his birthday happens to be on OSU's homecoming weekend every year, it makes it rather difficult to find a venue. This year proved to be just as difficult, so we decided to pack into our apartment and celebrate that way.  Thomas the train tracks, balloons and cake, Thomas the train EVERYTHING! Unfortunately, I caught a stomach bug and had to miss half of the party. Luckily, your daddy, and others guests, stepped up to make sure you had a fantastic second half...and you did!!

I love making his party invitations each year, especially this year's!

Really excited for his party to start!

The "BIG" Game

A few weeks ago we were given tickets to the OSU vs. Kansas State football game.  We absolutely love our Cowboys and going to football games, but aren't always able to go.
This particular Saturday worked out perfectly and we even got to bring Hudson along.
We frequent OSU baseball games, so he was a little disappointed to learn that we wouldn't be going to the baseball stadium that day, until, he finally saw where were going. He was so excited to get to go to the "big game," as he called it and by "big game," he meant big stadium! This was only his second time in Boone Pickens Stadium and he loved every minute of it (minus the nap he took during halftime).

It was so much fun cheering our Cowboys on to a 33-29 victory over the Wildcats. When we left, Hudson said he couldn't wait to tell all of his friends about going to the "big game."

The cutest miniature Cowboy!

Cheering loud and proud!

All Aboard!

When Kyle and I heard that Thomas the Train was coming to OKC, we knew we had to make sure that our Thomas fanatic child got to go. So, I planned ahead and took the last Friday in September off work.  I knew this would be Hudson's big birthday gift from us, but also knew I could in no way keep it a secret.

Unfortunately I told Hudson we were going to see Thomas about five weeks in advance and had to deal with his disappointment every day for that five weeks until finally, it was THE DAY!

He started the day off by getting dressed in just about everything Thomas the Train he could find.  Not joking folks; Thomas underwear, socks, shirt, backpack and even his Thomas hat (which he later decided was just a little too much Thomas for even him).

Nothing but pure excitement on his face as we left the house.
We arrived at the OKC Railway Museum and it became apparent that this was definitely going to be the best day of his entire three-year-old life.
He was overwhelmed by all of the Thomas activities and by Thomas the train himself, that he was left completely speechless.  His favorite part was defintely getting his picture taken with Thomas and getting to ride him.
Overall, it was the perfect day and the best birthday present we could've given him!

A Boy & His Boots

Well, it happend.  A few weeks ago we finally broke down and bought Hudson his first pair of cowboy boots.  We went to our Stillwater Atwoods store so Kyle could browse for the things he would need for the upcoming dove hunting season.  After a while of looking for things that his daddy needed, Hudson decided to switch gears and started his own hunt for the perfect pair of boots and Wranglers.

It didn't take long to find the perfect pair of size 3, slim fit Wranglers for the little guy; and I must say there's nothing cuter than a toddler boy bottom in Wranglers.  The perfect pair of boots didn't come so easily.  We tried at least a dozen pairs on and finally decided on "the green ones," as Hudson said.

The next few days consisted of boots, boots and more cowboy boots.  Boots with shorts, pajamas, underwear, it didn't matter.  He loved them!
